New Library News
The Charlotte County Board of Commissioners, the Punta Gorda City Council and the Friends of the Punta Gorda Charlotte Library have come together to provide the additional funding for the new library to have a functional exterior that compliments the historic area on Shreve Street. This is an architectural illustration of the new Punta Gorda Charlotte Library.
The Name:
The Board of Directors of the Friends of the Punta Gorda Charlotte Library passed a motion to ask the City of Punta Gorda City Council to request the name of the new library to be retained as “The Punta Gorda Charlotte Library”. Friends President Katie Mazzi spoke at the Punta Gorda City Council Meeting; the City Council-members passed this motion.
The Punta Gorda Charlotte Library was the first library in the Charlotte County Library system. The move to Shreve Street will be the third library location in Punta Gorda. Each location has been on land donated by the City of Punta Gorda.
